Choreographer & Teacher Improvisation
Lauren Yeung was born in Vancouver, Canada where she began her dance training. She studied with the Arts Umbrella Dance Company for 4 years under the guidance of Artemis Gordon and Lynn Sheppard. While there, she had the opportunity to work with such choreographers as James Kudelka, Crystal Pite, Gioconda Barbuto, Iratxe Ansa, Lesley Telford, Thomas Klein, Fernando Magadan, and Francesca Carotti. In her final year of the graduate program, she toured with the Arts Umbrella Dance Company to Europe and performed an excerpt of Crystal Pite’s “Dark Matters” set by Cindy Salgado. After graduating she traveled back to Europe to be a part of the Dance in Art Junior Company in Haarlem, Netherlands. It was here that she found her own voice as an emerging choreographer with the careful help of Artistic Director Martine Van Santen and Resident Choreographer Rianne Keyzer-Slenema. Lauren is excited to be returning to Dance in Art as a part of the team in the hopes that she may lend some inspiration to the next season of dancers.
